Episodes 6 to 8 of the second season of "Teamgeist" - exclusively on CANAL+ - follow the ÖFB national team at the World Cup finals overseas.

After Christoph Baumgartner's injury-forced exit, the ÖFB team sets up its base camp in Santa Barbara. Michael Gregoritsch provides exclusive behind-the-scenes insights with his "Gregerl-Cam."

Algeria Madness as a Grand Finale for "King Marko"

At the World Cup opener, Austria celebrates a 3-1 victory against Jordan and its first World Cup goal in 28 years. Stefan Posch suffers a fractured jaw but can continue the tournament with a special mask. Against world champions Argentina, Alexander Schlager saves a penalty from Lionel Messi, who later still scores twice.

In the decisive group stage match against Algeria, Sasa Kalajdzic saves Austria with a last-minute equalizer, sending them to the round of sixteen. There, not only does the World Cup journey end against Spain, but also Marko Arnautovic's national team career. The documentary exclusively shows his emotional farewell words in the locker room.

"These three episodes are the culmination of a long journey. We were up close for the biggest moments of this national team: the last-minute equalizer against Algeria as well as Marko Arnautovic's farewell in the locker room. Such images have never been seen before," says Thomas Trukesitz, Head of Sports at CANAL+.

Episode 6 ("The Adventure Begins") starts with anticipation and a shock: Christoph Baumgartner gets injured during warm-up before the final test match against Tunisia and misses the tournament. Team doctor Christoph Resinger and Baumgartner describe the decisive moments openly and emotionally. Despite rehab, "Baumi" travels to the USA to join the team. There, the team sets up its base camp in Santa Barbara, where more than 3000 fans attend the first training session. Michael Gregoritsch provides completely new insights, capturing the World Cup journey with his camcorder. The "Gregerl-Cam" shows the team from a different side.

Episode 7 ("Opening Victory and World Champion Duel") shows the first World Cup match of an Austrian national team since 1998. Romano Schmid scores Austria's first World Cup goal in 28 years in the 3-1 win against Jordan. Stefan Posch breaks his jaw in this match but can continue the World Cup with a custom-made mask. This is followed by the duel with world champions Argentina in Dallas: Lionel Messi initially fails from the penalty spot against Alexander Schlager but then scores twice.

Episode 8 ("Memorable Moments") delivers perhaps the craziest script of the season. Against Algeria, Austria is close to elimination after Riyad Mahrez's goal made it 3-2, until Sasa Kalajdzic equalizes in the sixth minute of added time. In the round of sixteen in Los Angeles, eventual world champions Spain prove too strong. For record player and record goal scorer Marko Arnautovic, it is his last game for the national team. Teamgeist – Unser Weg exclusively shows his emotional words to teammates and staff in the locker room.
