ÖFB Sporting Director? Maierhofer denies application
According to a media report by Salzburger Nachrichten, the former attacker applied for the position of ÖFB Sporting Director. He clearly denies this.
A media report by the "Salzburger Nachrichten" earlier this week caused quite a stir!
Among others, Marc Janko, Marko Stankovic, and Stefan Maierhofer are said to have submitted applications for the advertised Sporting Director position at the ÖFB (All information >>>).
Interested parties could contact the federation until October 26. The ÖFB will likely make a final decision by the end of November.
Clear Denial
In the Krone-Podcast "Sportkrone Inside," Maierhofer has now commented on these rumors and quickly dismissed them as fiction: "I don't think it's good, I want to fully focus on my coaching career. It brings me extreme joy."
The former ÖFB striker is currently successfully working as head coach at Kremser SC in the Regionalliga Ost.
"Getting involved with the ÖFB with such an application right now is not my thing at all. I haven't sent anything. I am more of a coach than a sporting director. I want to be on the pitch and have this interaction with the players," Maierhofer denied the rumors.
