FAC Sporting Director Fischer: On the Way to the Bundesliga?

From team manager to sporting director to managing director of sport. Over the past ten years, Lukas Fischer has continuously developed at FAC and shaped the club from the ADMIRAL 2. Liga into a genuine promotion candidate.

Since 2022, the 36-year-old, as Managing Director of Sport, has been responsible for the entire sporting division at the club from Vienna's 21st district.

Good Transfers

Under Fischer, Floridsdorf experienced a significant upturn. In 2021/22, they finished second, in 2023/24 fifth, and in the past season, they secured fourth place.

During his tenure, FAC has developed not only athletically but also economically. For example, players like Oluwaseun Adewumi (to Burnley for 400,000 Euros) or Evan Eghosa Aisowieren (to SV Ried for 250,000 Euros) transferred for significant fees.

Coaches such as current Schalke coach Miron Muslic, former Blau-Weiß coach Mitja Mörec, or Aleksandar Gitsov, who then moved to CSKA Sofia as an assistant coach, also started their careers in Floridsdorf and were subsequently sold for transfer fees.

In total, over one million Euros in transfer fees were generated from sales during his time in office.

Departure from FAC?

Interest in Fischer has been high in recent years. According to information from LAOLA1, the sporting director was on the radar of clubs such as SCR Altach, Blau-Weiß Linz, and SKN St. Pölten.

Fischer himself can imagine leaving Floridsdorf: "The work at FAC is challenging every day and brings me immense joy. Of course, at some point, I also want to develop further and take the next step."

However, he also emphasizes that the project comes first: "Until then, I will focus on doing my job as best as possible. When and where this next step leads will become clear. One thing is certain for me: it has to be a 100 percent fit, and I must be able to fully identify with it."
