Disappointing Season Start! Admira Loses Opener to Rapid II

After a rather inconsistent preseason, the team from Südstadt also remains unsuccessful in their league opener.

Admira makes a poor start to the new ADMIRAL 2. Liga season.

The Südstadt team suffered a 0:1 home defeat to Rapid II in scorching heat. Last Sunday, the Lower Austrians had already been eliminated in the first round of the UNIQA ÖFB-Cup by fourth-tier side Leithaprodersdorf.

Admira created the first dangerous situation in the 15th minute. Weberbauer delivered a sharp low cross from the right flank. Forst seemed surprised the pass got through and couldn't reach the ball at the five-yard box.

The Lower Austrians had more possession but rarely became truly dangerous. In the 25th minute, Forst got a header in the penalty area. Rapid II goalkeeper Orgler showed strong reflexes and made the save.

Rapid II Successfully Capitalizes on Counter-Attack Opportunities

Rapid bided their time and proved efficient. Music set up his attacking teammate Djezic. The 20-year-old exploited the space he was given and scored from a turn into the bottom right corner.

In the 44th minute, it was almost 0:2 for Rapid II. Similar to their opening goal, Rapid II worked their way into the penalty area. Djezic was able to shoot again, but Weberbauer cleared off the line.

In stoppage time, Admira had another prime opportunity. S. Steiner shot towards the near post, but Orgler performed well on the line and made the save.

Admira Presses in Vain for the Equalizer

In the second half, Admira had the first big chance.

After a well-executed attack down the left flank, several Admira players had shots from promising positions. However, several green-white defenders and Orgler once again thwarted their efforts.

In the final phase, the Südstadt team was superior. First, substitute Sebastian Orgler had the biggest chance for the equalizer (85'). A minute later, Holzhacker attempted a volley from outside the box after a corner kick (86').

In the 90th minute, Rahmi had the opportunity to seal the win for Rapid II, but Steinbauer was able to clear the ball away. Ultimately, however, it remained a 1:0 victory for the Hütteldorf side.
