Liefering Merciless! KSV Suffers Heavy Opening Defeat

78 days after Austria Lustenau's championship celebration, the ADMIRAL 2. Liga is back from its summer break!

In the first round, FC Liefering celebrated a 4-0 away victory against Kapfenberger SV.

Liefering had to accept several departures over the summer, including Verhounig (WAC) and Camara (Salzburg). Therefore, they started the season with a mix of former U18 talents and familiar faces. Kapfenberg also appeared rejuvenated.

"Young Bulls" Get Off to a Better Start

With temperatures at 32 degrees, the visitors started the match significantly more actively. The first chance to take the lead came in the 12th minute. Matjasec's cross found Zangerl, who took the ball directly but missed the goal from close range.

Ivanschitz narrowly missed a few minutes later after a solo effort from just outside the box (15th), as did Adejenughure (18th) and Matjasec (20th). Liefering continued in the same vein, virtually overwhelming their opponents.

Danny Galm's squad was finally able to celebrate in the 21st minute. Newcomer Sulbaran scored the first goal of the new season after a deflected cross.

Ivanschitz then rewarded the performance of the Salzburg team with a technically beautiful solo effort, making it 2-0 (28th).

Home Team Finds Their Way into the Game

This goal seemed to be a wake-up call for Kapfenberg. The home team found their way into the game better and had a chance to pull one back before the break.

First, Pokorny cleared in the last second after a two-on-one situation (33rd), then Rostas failed when alone in front of goal (38th), before Zikovic also missed (44th).

Despite Kapfenberg having more chances in the final minutes, Liefering went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Kapfenberg Dangerous - Liefering Effective

The home team carried their momentum and started much better. Sokcevic once again created top chances (46th).

The excitement returned in the 68th minute when Zlibanovic only had to tap the ball into an empty net, but shot well over.

After Kapfenberg squandered their best opportunities, it was Liefering who struck again. Leles raced alone towards Colic and converted to make it 3-0 (71st). It was his first goal for the "Young Bulls".

KSV's last chance for 3-1 fell to Coco after an assist from Weißenbacher, but he too failed to find the net, fittingly for the Styrians' opening match. The visitors did better once again. Werner extended the lead to the 4-0 final score (83rd).
