Austria Salzburg has successfully started the new ADMIRAL 2. Liga season. The Mozartstädter secured a 2-0 victory against FC Hertha Wels in their opener.

Both teams started the new season cautiously. Goal-scoring opportunities remained scarce in a balanced opening phase.

The first major chance fell to Tamar Crnkic. The new signing from Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz shot from distance after a counter-attack, hitting only the inside of the post in the 32nd minute.

At the other end, danger emerged for the first time from a set-piece. Haudum headed a cross but couldn't generate enough power behind the ball. Salzburg's goalkeeper Nesler-Täubl easily defused the attempt (37.).

Austria Salzburg Greatly Improved in Second Half

After the break, Crnkic did better: Following a long ball, Hertha keeper Schröcker misjudged, leaving the 20-year-old striker with a clear path. Crnkic only had to tap it in in the 59th minute, scoring his first goal of the season.

Just a few minutes later, the new signing had a chance for a brace: However, Crnkic arrived a step too late for a cross and failed to put the ball into the net (67.).

Gebauer Scores First Goal of the Season

In the 72nd minute, Crnkic was once again central to the action: The striker ran alone towards the Wels goal, kept his composure, and laid it off to Christian Gebauer. He only had to tap the ball into the empty net to make it 2-0.

In the end, Salzburg left nothing to chance and secured the first three points of the new season with a 2-0 victory.
