FAC secures hard-fought win for new coach Sonnleitner against SKN

The first matchday of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga concludes with a 1-0 home victory for FAC against SKN St. Pölten.

FAC starts with an early goal

In the "IMMOunited Match of the Round", the home team gets off to a dream start. As early as the eighth minute, Piskule puts his team ahead after a low cross from Richards.

The next shot also belongs to the Viennese. Knett prevents SKN from falling further behind after a deflected shot from Vucenovic (14'). Almost immediately at the other end, Stendera tests FAC goalkeeper Scharner.

FAC repeatedly finds ways to combine through the visitors' defense. This was also the case in the 18th minute. The goal-scorer broke through, but his shot was too central.

Gabbichler makes league debut for SKN

Gabbichler features for the runner-up. The 28-year-old scored most of the Viennese's goals last season, but then moved to the "Wölfe". There he aims to continue his performance, but he still has to wait for his first goal in the Lower Austrians' jersey after putting a header just wide of the goal in the 20th minute.

Amon, who stands out for SKN (32'), faces a similar fate and fails to beat the FAC goalkeeper again seven minutes later after a quick throw-in.

SKN pushed for the equalizer after about half an hour. However, the Floridsdorfers had the best chance to score next. Vucenovic covered a lot of ground and appeared alone in front of Knett, but couldn't extend the lead. Thus, the teams went into halftime with a 1-0 score.

Second half without many highlights

The second half was initially quiet. One of the few chances fell to substitute Lerchbacher. He just missed the ball after a corner (67'). Hartwig also failed to get the ball into the net on the opposite side after a lot of commotion in the penalty area.

SKN continued to struggle, repeatedly experiencing coordination problems. They only became almost dangerous through a free-kick from Stendera to Hartwig.

FAC came closer to making it 2-0 through Abdijanovic. Knett prevented SKN from conceding. As neither SKN nor FAC could convert their chances, the first duel between the two in the new season ended 1-0 for the Viennese.
