Silje Opseth will miss the upcoming ski jumping season.

However, the reason is a joyful one, as she will become a mother for the first time. The Norwegian announced this on Instagram.

The federation also commented. "For everyone who knows Silje, this news is a great joy. For many years, she has been an important part of the national ski jumping team, both through her performances on the hill and as a teammate, role model, and ambassador for ski jumping. Now, a time with different priorities, expectations, and experiences awaits," explained ski jumping head Jan-Erik Aalbu to "TV2".

In addition, the ski jumper herself shared an emotional story with her fans. Recently, the 27-year-old was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency, which among other things, makes pregnancy difficult.

Career End Not in Sight

The joy is now even greater. "Now, as if by a small miracle, exactly that has happened. The test recently showed two lines, and we will welcome a little baby into the world and our family in May," she wrote.

However, this does not mean the end of her career. The goal is to return to ski jumping after the birth, as she already has new goals, Aalbu added.

Opseth has stood on the podium three times at World Championships, and she also finished fourth in the overall World Cup in 2020/21.
