Summer GP: Japanese Skier Distances Tschofenig
The overall victory for Naoki Nakamura is now just a formality. The penultimate competition takes place on Sunday in Rasnov.
Japanese skier Naoki Nakamura gave himself a perfect birthday present on Saturday, taking a major step towards the Summer Grand Prix overall victory with his win in Rasnov.
The now 30-year-old won on the normal hill in Rasnov with jumps of 93 and 96 meters respectively. It was Nakamura's third GP victory of the season.
Another competition is scheduled for Sunday in Rasnov, with the final Summer Grand Prix event of the season to follow on October 24 in Klingenthal.
Tschofenig Second Overall with Perfect Performance
Before the final two competitions, Nakamura holds a 192-point lead over his closest pursuer, Daniel Tschofenig. The overall victory for the Japanese is now merely a formality.
Tschofenig is not competing in Rasnov. In his only two Grand Prix appearances this year in Courchevel, he secured first place in both, thereby retaining second place in the overall standings.
