Norwegian ski jumper Silje Opseth has had an eventful few days. Only at the beginning of the week, the 27-year-old announced her pregnancy.

However, just a few days later, there is less pleasant news from the Norwegian.

The ski jumper had to undergo urgent surgery. "Appendicitis wasn't exactly on my to-do list for 2026," Opseth wrote on Instagram.

"Knerten" and Silje doing well

"Luckily, I've learned to know my body quite well. That's why I noticed early on that something wasn't right," Opseth told the Norwegian news agency NTB.

The three-time World Championship medalist underwent surgery shortly after being admitted to the hospital.

According to Opseth, the operation went well. "Thanks to the Norwegian healthcare system, both 'Knerten' (her unborn baby, ed.) and I are doing well. Now I just need some time to rest and fully recover," said the 27-year-old.
