Crushing Defeat! Black Wings Overwhelmed by Bozen
For Linz, the top match in the battle for the league lead proves extremely disappointing.
The Black Wings Linz suffer a clear 0-5 away defeat at HC Bozen in the absolute top match of the twelfth round in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
The South Tyroleans celebrated taking the lead in the first period. Patrick Söllinger unluckily deflected a Ratcliffe shot with his stick into his own net (14). Subsequently, a tripping penalty by BWL goalie Martin Reder and a line change error led to a 3-on-5 disadvantage.
Bozen took advantage of this, and Daniel Mantenuto extended the lead to 2-0 (33th minute/PP2). Furthermore, Zachary Leslie scored practically at the intermission buzzer, giving the South Tyroleans a 3-0 lead at the break (40th minute).
Bozen Reclaims Top Spot with Dominant Victory
The home team continued exactly in this efficient manner. The HCB was awarded a penalty shot soon after returning to the ice.
Brad McClure converted the penalty shot to make it 4-0 (41st minute/PS), before Mantenuto sealed the 5-0 home win with his brace long before the final phase (45th minute).
With this, the South Tyroleans reclaimed the league lead from the Black Wings. However, both HCB and Linz are on 24 points.
