Biathlon Star Reveals: "I Was Afraid of Races"
Until 2024, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was among the absolute world elite in biathlon. But then her career began to falter. Now the Norwegian speaks openly about it:
Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has been one of the best biathletes in recent years. Now, however, the Norwegian reveals that she temporarily lost her joy in the sport.
"For the past two years, I tried to do everything absolutely right. I tried to optimize all parts of my life to take a step forward," Tandrevold explains in the NRK podcast "Skiklubben". For this, she, among other things, cut out social breaks.
Instead of developing athletically as desired, the opposite happened. "I started to be very afraid of racing, and I had never done that before."
Heart Problems
The winner of eleven World Championship medals was subsequently only focused on "somehow getting by – a very bad starting point" during the season.
Tandrevold's career began to falter in 2024. At that time, the now 29-year-old was among the absolute world elite in biathlon, before heart rhythm disturbances occurred and she had to undergo surgery. Since then, Tandrevold has never truly reconnected with the absolute top.
