Nina Ortlieb: "We've found a great way for me!"
The ÖSV racer is beaming. The training camp in South America went exactly as she wished.
For the first time in several years, Nina Ortlieb was able to make the trip to a training camp in South America.
The 30-year-old ski racer, who has been repeatedly sidelined by serious injuries in the past, is finally fully fit again and can complete her entire preparation.
The training camp in Argentina and Chile couldn't have gone better, according to Ortlieb. "We were really lucky in both locations and found excellent conditions," she enthuses in an interview posted by Ski Austria.
New Training Group
For Ortlieb, there were several changes this summer, as she moved into the "WC3 group" supervised by Martin Sprenger, which also includes Julia Scheib.
"For me, the focus has shifted in recent weeks, as I am now in the giant slalom and speed group, we focused purely on giant slalom training for the first two weeks," Ortlieb explains.
Adjustment Proves Satisfying
This has certainly paid off, according to the ÖSV racer: "I think it was especially good for my skiing." The decision was definitely the right one: "I think we've found a great way for me."
The adjustment is primarily intended to have a positive impact on the Super-G, where results in recent years have not been entirely satisfactory.
Equipment Still Being Tested
The 2023 Downhill Vice World Champion wants to use the final days in South America to fine-tune some aspects of her equipment.
She wants to "perhaps test out one or two more things. Since we probably won't find quite as many opportunities for speed training on the local glaciers, I will try out a few more things."
