EC Red Bull Salzburg suffers a 0:5 thrashing at Rögle BK on the third matchday of the Champions Hockey League.

The Ice Bulls delivered a good performance in the first 40 minutes, with the top Swedish club holding a narrow 1:0 lead for a long time after a powerplay goal from Kellman (15.).

In the final period, however, the high tempo that the Letang squad maintained takes its toll. Friedman initiated the scoring spree in the 47th minute, and Sundsvik made it 3:0 after a superb combination (50.).

Setback in the battle for the Top 16

After a breakaway, Horky, alone in front of Kickert, made it 4:0 (52.), while Friedman secured the final score with his second goal of the evening. The defenseman slammed the puck ruthlessly into the top right corner (53.).

Salzburg thus suffers a setback in the fight for the knockout phase, for which the top 16 teams qualify. After the 2:5 against Kölner Haie and the 3:0 over Liberec, Salzburg is in 18th place with three points. Rögle moved up to 15th place with their first victory.
