Shortly before the home World Championship, Patrick Fischer had to step down from his position as head coach of the Swiss ice hockey team.

The reason for this was his admission of having purchased a vaccination certificate during the coronavirus pandemic and using it to travel to the 2022 Olympic Games.

Consequently, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) also launched an investigation.

Fischer Banned

The federation's decision has now been made: Fischer will not be permitted to coach any national team for the next four years.

However, the 51-year-old may continue to work as a coach at club level, according to "Blick".

Whether this will come to pass is currently unclear.

Currently, Fischer is focusing on another project. Starting in autumn, he plans to offer various workshops and inspiration days to help people and players develop further.
