After six second and three third places, it finally happened: Paula Moltzan celebrates her first victory in the Alpine Ski World Cup at the giant slalom in Sölden!

After often coming close last season, success came with Van Deer as her new ski outfitter – and right at the Ski World Cup opener.

For her outfitter, it is also the first victory in the women's World Cup, as Moltzan is the first athlete with Van Deer skis. The US-American defied the worsening conditions.

"I have a dream team behind me"

"It's a lifelong goal that I'm fulfilling. In the second run, visibility wasn't great; I had hoped we might come down in sunshine. But I knew you just have to have full confidence," said the 32-year-old in an ORF interview after the race.

At 32 years old, the US-American from Minnesota is now also the oldest first-time winner in Ski World Cup history.

"I have a dream team behind me, and then you can make your dream a reality. We worked hard, and now everything is working. I just want to have fun and enjoy this season."
