Paula Moltzan wins the Giant Slalom at the season opener in Sölden and celebrates her first World Cup victory!

The American catapults herself from fifth place to the top step of the podium in the second run and is thus, logically, also the first leader in the Giant Slalom and overall World Cup standings.

Just one hundredth of a second behind her, Lara Colturi from Albania takes second, while Germany's Emma Aicher finishes third, achieving her first Giant Slalom podium (+0.52).

With visibility worsening, the top four from the first run could not match Moltzan's time, and even halfway leader Mikaela Shiffrin had to settle for seventh place in the end (+0.83).

For the ÖSV racers, there was nothing to gain; Julia Scheib crashed out already in the first run. The only Austrian to make it into the second run was Franziska Gritsch in 15th place. There, she delivered an appealing run, securing ninth place, which is her personal best Giant Slalom result since 2024.
