Surprise! Vonn nominated to US Ski Team
Despite another operation scheduled for November, the 41-year-old was nominated to the A-team.
Lindsey Vonn is part of the US Ski Team's A-team roster for the 2026/27 season!
The association announced this on Instagram on Wednesday. However, after her serious crash at the Olympic Games, she still has a long rehabilitation ahead of her.
Additionally, another operation is pending. This is likely to take place in November and is expected to bring another recovery period of about nine months (more here >>>).
Comeback Plans Remain Open
Therefore, a comeback already next winter is probably out of the question, and whether she will ever compete in World Cup races again remains doubtful.
A total of 48 other athletes have been nominated. Among them are ski star Mikaela Shiffrin and Breeze Johnson.
Rearick: "An impressive group"
US Ski Director Sasha Rearick is already looking forward to an exciting season: "This is a very determined and impressive group of alpine athletes who are well prepared to compete at the highest level as we head into a World Championship season. Their dedication during both summer training at the Center of Excellence and on snow has laid the foundation for what will be a very exciting season," he explains.
The first race is scheduled for October 24 in Sölden. The women will compete in a giant slalom one day before the men.
