The Ski World Cup opener on October 24 in Sölden will definitely take place without two-time Olympic champion Federica Brignone.

As the 36-year-old Italian announced at the Festival dello Sport, she will only return to the snow in November.

She has not yet set a concrete date for her World Cup comeback.

"At my age, I no longer plan many years in advance, but practicing this sport is a privilege I have worked for my entire life. I will only return to racing when I am truly completely fit," she explained to "Quotidiano Sportivo".

On the Road to Recovery

On August 25, 2026, Brignone underwent another operation to have the plate removed from her knee. Previously, on April 3, 2025, the Italian suffered a fracture of the tibial plateau and the head of the fibula, as well as injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee, among others, during a serious fall at the Italian Championships.

Nevertheless, she won gold in the Super-G and giant slalom at the Olympic Games in February 2026.
