Former Ski Star Defies Tragedy, Becomes a Father Again
Ten years ago, he lost his wife in an avalanche accident; today, he is a father of two.
Joyful news from Mattias Hargin!
The former World Cup slalom racer has become a father for the second time. He and his fiancée Lovisa Falkenberg announced the birth of their daughter Siri via Instagram.
It is the second addition to the family for Hargin and Falkenberg, who have been engaged since 2022 and became parents to son Oliver about two years ago.
First wife killed in avalanche accident
It is a joyful turnaround in the private life of Mattias Hargin, who, in 2016, lost his then-wife Matilda Rapaport in an avalanche accident. The 30-year-old freerider died during fatal filming.
Hargin only ended his active ski career a few years after the accident, in 2019.
Before that, in 2015, the Swede won the only World Cup slalom of his career in Kitzbühel. Additionally, he won three team medals at World Championships (silver in 2013, bronze in 2015 and 2017).
