Retired in 2021: Ex-skier becomes a mother for the first time

Pleasing news from former World Cup skier Marina Fischbacher (née Wallner).

As the 31-year-old German announced via social media, she and her husband Florian have become parents for the first time: daughter Lena was born on September 26.

"Welcome to the world, little miracle. I love you," the ex-skier announced the birth of her daughter via Instagram.

Under her maiden name Wallner, the slalom specialist competed in the Alpine Ski World Cup between 2013 and 2021. Her best World Cup result was seventh place in the Squaw Valley slalom in 2017.

In 2021, she announced the end of her career at the age of 26.
