Thanks to a lightning start: Graz99ers triumph against HC Innsbruck
The hosts start the game with three quick goals, later having several chances for a bigger win, but fail to capitalize on them.
The Graz99ers respond to Friday's shootout loss against the Black Wings from Linz with a victory.
On matchday eight of the win2day ICE Hockey League, they defeat HC Innsbruck 3-0. All goals are scored in the first nine minutes, with the Tyroleans remaining scoreless for the second consecutive game.
Three quick goals secure dream start
From the outset, the home team dictates play. After just three minutes, Swaney puts the puck in the net for the first time following a beautiful cross-pass.
The next goals quickly follow. Just two minutes later, Hanus extends the lead to 2-0, before Lippitsch adds the third goal in the 9th minute after a rebound.
Subsequently, the Sharks recover somewhat, but Graz is superior throughout the entire first period.
No goals in the second period
Despite further good chances, the hosts fail to put the puck in the net in the next 20 minutes, also thanks to a strong performance from Innsbruck goalkeeper Harvey.
The Sharks remain barely dangerous. With a shot on goal count of 42:10, the game heads into the final intermission.
99ers cannot add more
Even in the final phase, the visitors cannot turn the score around. As the Styrians also fail to add more goals, the game ends 3-0.
In the standings, the 99ers move up to sixth place after the win (11 points). The Sharks are eleventh with 8 points.
