No Children? Ski Legend Annoyed by Question: "Quite Outrageous!"
The ex-skier explains in an interview why she doesn't want children. And why she shouldn't be asked about it.
Maria Riesch can look back on a successful skiing career.
In addition to three Olympic gold medals and two World Championship titles, the German also won the overall Ski World Cup once. The now 41-year-old officially retired in 2014.
Even during her active career, Riesch married her manager Marcus Höfl (the two have been separated since 2024), but contrary to the skier's initial expectations, no offspring resulted from this marriage.
"During my active career, I thought: If I stop skiing at some point, I definitely want to have a family," she explains in an interview with "Bild". However, the desire for motherhood did not truly blossom after the end of her career.
Riesch completely open: "I don't want children"
Now she can clearly state: "I don't want children."
The questions about why she doesn't want any annoy the Olympic champion: "I find it quite impertinent when someone asks: 'Do you have children?' – 'No.' – 'Why not?'"
"There are also women for whom it didn't work out and who find it difficult to talk about it. That's why I think: one could simply avoid these questions," says the German.
Riesch has been in a relationship with cruise ship manager Johann Schrempf for some time now.
