Lucas Pinheiro Braathen is one of the most charismatic figures in the Alpine Ski World Cup. The Sölden ski resort also benefited from his presence over the past two years.

The 26-year-old skier served as a Sölden ambassador and brand testimonial since 2024. However, that is now over.

"The contract has expired and was not renewed. It was a great time, we had a lot of fun," explains Oliver Schwarz, CEO of TVB Ötztal, to the "Tiroler Tageszeitung".

Braathen's management adds when asked by "TT": "The partnership is no longer continuing. This also gives Lucas the flexibility to train elsewhere in the world."

Braathen's close connection to Tyrol remains

The Brazilian skier will continue to have his main residence in Innsbruck, which is why a certain connection to Sölden will still remain.

"I live in Innsbruck, Sölden is an hour away. That's where I had my first victory, that's where I stopped and came back. Sölden will always be very important to me, I am still there," says Pinheiro Braathen.

World Cup opener in Sölden is just around the corner

The Brazilian will definitely be in Sölden on October 25. That's when the traditional start of the Ski World Cup season will take place on the Rettenbach Glacier.

As the reigning winner of the giant slalom crystal globe and Olympic champion, Braathen is one of the absolute top favorites in the first race of the season.
