Julia Grabher has reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 125K tournament in Philadelphia (USA).

The 30-year-old from Vorarlberg defeated American Ashlyn Krueger in the round of 16 in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

In the first set, both players struggled with their serves: The local favorite immediately dropped her first service game, and after both Grabher and Krueger managed to hold their respective service games, a sequence of six breaks followed.

However, the ÖTV player recovered at the right moment and served out for the set.

Quarter-Final Opponent Still Pending

Grabher also broke her opponent's serve in the very first game of the second set. With the break in hand, the Vorarlberg native did not relinquish her lead. After one hour and 18 minutes, the 30-year-old sealed the victory on her first match point.

Who the world No. 114 in the WTA rankings will face in the next round is not yet determined. Crawley (USA) and Ovcharenko (RUS) will only play their match, the third after 5 PM (CET), to determine who will face the ÖTV player.
