Jannik Sinner is the 2026 Wimbledon champion!

The South Tyrolean world number one defeats Alexander Zverev (GER/ATP-3.) in the final of the grass-court classic at the All England Club with a score of 6:7(7), 7:6(2), 6:3, 6:4.

Both players started confidently, denying their opponent opportunities for a long time. Zverev was able to fend off the only break point in the first set at 4:3. It went to a tie-break.

The match remained evenly contested there too, neither player made a mistake, and Sinner managed to save Zverev's set point. With an ace, the South Tyrolean instead secured a chance to win the set – Zverev responded with an ace of his own. With his second set point, Zverev then closed it out, winning 7:9 in the tie-break after 65 minutes.

No Breaks in the Second Set Either

The match did not lose its characteristic in the second set either: both players were incredibly solid on serve, which somewhat diminished the entertainment value. After almost another 55 minutes, it once again went to a tie-break.

There, Zverev immediately conceded a mini-break, Sinner then held both of his serves and broke again. It was the crucial moment, even though Zverev still managed a mini-break for 4:2. With the mini-break for 6:2, Sinner had four set points, and he converted the first one.

First Break for Sinner

An unchanged picture in the third set. At 3:3, Sinner offered an opportunity after a double fault but managed to turn the game around from 0:30, also thanks to a saved break point.

In the next game, Sinner then managed the first break of the match. The South Tyrolean initially slipped but quickly recovered and then coolly took a 5:3 lead. Sinner served out for 6:3 and secured the third set.

Crucial Moment at 3:3

In the fourth set, Zverev struggled to get into the rallies, while Sinner consistently found answers to the German's shots, even under pressure. Zverev was initially able to prevent the supposed decisive moment in the match at 3:3 in the fourth set – he fended off two break points from Sinner. However, Sinner immediately earned another advantage and broke with a strong return for 4:3.

The South Tyrolean continued to put Zverev under pressure, winning the following game to love. Zverev served to stay in the match at 5:4 but repeatedly failed in the final game against the seemingly insurmountable Sinner.

Sinner thus wins the Wimbledon grass-court classic after 3:48 hours, just as he did last year. For him, it is his fifth Grand Slam victory overall. Zverev, on the other hand, loses his tenth consecutive match against Sinner.
