Unfortunate! Behrmann misses out on US Open final
The ÖTV junior had to concede defeat to the favored Brazilian Luis Miguel. It was his last major tournament at junior level.
Thilo Behrmann's successful run in the US Open junior competition has ended in the semifinals.
The 18-year-old lost to top-seeded Brazilian Luis Guto Miguel in two sets, 4:6, 4:6. It was the Burgenländer's first semifinal appearance at his last Grand Slam tournament at junior level.
In the first set, Miguel secured a break for a 2-1 lead, and the 17-year-old then confidently served out the set.
The second set started poorly for Behrmann with a lost service game, but he immediately got the rebreak to level at 2-2. However, Miguel broke his serve again straight away and, after 1 hour and 30 minutes of play, advanced to the final.
There, Miguel will face US local favorite Marcel Latak, who defeated Germany's Jamie Mackenzie 6:3, 7:6 (2).
