Around the ATP 250 tournament in Mallorca, Australian tennis professional Nick Kyrgios tested positive for the illegal substance and drug cocaine in late June (More info>>>).

Now, the 31-year-old is provisionally suspended and faces much criticism.

In the past, the Australian himself had repeatedly taken a strong stance against dopers – especially in the case of Jannik Sinner, but also against others like Romania's Simona Halep. Following his positive cocaine test, the 34-year-old now slams Kyrgios.

Halep Reacts to Kyrgios Incident

"Never kick someone when they are already down. Life has a strange way of switching roles – and an even stranger way of showing the difference between an accident and a decision," Halep wrote on Instagram.

The now-retired Romanian, who spent 64 weeks at the top of the world rankings, has a doping past herself.

In October 2022, Halep was provisionally suspended after testing positive for Roxadustat and later initially banned for four years. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced the ban to nine months in March 2024.

"If I were to take similar things to be banned for four years, I would have five Grand Slam titles," Kyrgios commented on the ban at the time.
