Surprise Win in the Kitzbühel Final

The Generali Open in Kitzbühel 2026 ends with a surprise!

Frenchman Quentin Halys claims his very first ATP title in the final against top-seeded Alexander Bublik. It is the first French singles victory in the history of the tournament in the Gamsstadt.

Halys, ranked 83rd in the world before the final, prevailed in the final of the clay-court event against the Kazakh after 93 minutes with a 6-4, 7-6(6) score. Bublik is thus denied his title defense in the Gamsstadt.

Halys: Kitzbühel "Forever in My Heart"

"I'm so happy. I played a great match today and Sascha is such a great player. I hope you all enjoyed it too," says Halys, who catapults himself to 51st place in the rankings.

"The first ATP title will stay in my heart forever. The atmosphere here is so great, we'll definitely see each other again next year," he promises.

Even Bublik's Antics Were No Use

Halys had also beaten the Kazakh in Gstaad the previous week, albeit much closer, in three sets. In Kitzbühel, various antics from Bublik in the second set were also of no use in disrupting the Frenchman.

Halys was particularly dominant with his serve, hitting 17 aces and not having to defend a single break point. He broke Bublik's serve in the first set for a 6-4 lead.

The second set went to a tiebreak without any service breaks, in which Bublik initially led 2-0 and later failed to convert a set point at 6-5. Halys, however, converted his first match point.
