"Not possible to continue like this": Ofner announces break
A foot injury stops Sebastian Ofner - his season is likely over prematurely.
Sebastian Ofner continues to struggle with problems in his ankle.
As the 30-year-old announced on Thursday via Instagram, he will "most likely play one more tournament in Sevilla" and then "stay away from the court for a while".
"Unfortunately, I've had pain in my ankle again for some time, and at this point, it's simply not possible to continue," Ofner admitted.
"It's hard to take a step back, but..."
Most recently, he had to retire in the third set against Lithuanian Edas Butvilas in the first round of the tournament in Manacor.
"It's hard to take a step back, but right now I need to focus on my health and consult various doctors and specialists. My biggest goal is to heal properly and feel normal again – and hopefully be back on court without pain," Ofner said.
This means Ofner's season will likely be over prematurely.
