Lukas Weißhaidinger is suffering from back pain one week before the start of the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The 34-year-old already had to miss the dress rehearsal in Andorf.

In an interview with the "Oberösterreichische Nachrichten", Weißhaidinger says: "My back is still bothering me, but I'm in good hands. We will decide on Thursday if it's possible."

The discus thrower is currently still having trouble completing his training fully. If he can't go full throttle, the European Championships make no sense, says Weißhaidinger.

A Strong Medal Hope

The Upper Austrian is the reigning Vice-European Champion in discus throw. While Weißhaidinger hasn't had the best year, he is aware that on a good day at the European Championships, anything is possible.
