Marquez Double Victory in Sachsenring Sprint
Marc Marquez wins the Sprint at the German GP ahead of his brother Alex. Marco Bezzecchi is unable to start.
Marc Marquez celebrates a dominant victory in the Sprint at the German GP in Sachsenring!
The weekend was bitter for Marco Bezzecchi; the World Championship runner-up suffered a heavy crash in the morning, sustained a bone fracture, and will therefore miss at least the rest of the weekend.
Polesitter Marquez gets a good start and rides the 15 laps dominantly; his victory is never truly in jeopardy. Behind him finishes his brother Alex Marquez, with the Gresini rider celebrating second place.
Third place also remains as in qualifying and goes to Enduro rider Fabio di Giannantonio. Generally, there are hardly any overtaking maneuvers; in the front group, only Ai Ogura overtakes Raul Fernandez in the early stages, securing fourth place. World Championship leader Jorge Martin finishes sixth.
In the World Championship standings after the Sprint, Jorge Martin leads by eleven points ahead of Bezzecchi and 13 points ahead of Di Giannantonio.
The race at Sachsenring takes place on Sunday at 14:00.
