Formula 1 will host an additional race in October 2026!

Malaysia is stepping in as a replacement for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which was cancelled in spring. The pinnacle of motorsport is thus returning to the Southeast Asian country after nine years.

The race weekend at the Sepang International Circuit near Kuala Lumpur will take place from October 2nd to 4th.

"A special place in the history of Formula 1"

Officially, the race will be held under the name "Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia" - thus as the Grand Prix of Bahrain in Malaysia.

"Malaysia is an incredible country, and Sepang holds a special place in the history of Formula 1. It will provide a spectacular backdrop for racing and an unforgettable experience for fans at the track and watching on screens around the world," explains Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
