After Crash: Colapinto receives grid penalty
The Argentinian is sanctioned for his maneuver during the re-start. Another driver will even be moved to the back of the grid.
Alpine driver Franco Colapinto will now retrospectively receive a penalty for his caused accident at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
During the re-start after the safety car, the 23-year-old Argentinian took out both his teammate Pierre Gasly and world champion Lando Norris with a completely over-motivated maneuver. This not only earned him the Briton's anger but also a ten-second penalty.
However, since the crash meant the end for every member of the involved trio, the misconduct has now been addressed with a grid penalty. He has now been handed a five-place grid drop by the FIA.
Crash with teammate goes unpunished
Arvid Lindblad will have to start from the very back at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The reason for this, however, is not misconduct, but the fact that several power unit components are being replaced for the Racing-Bulls driver. The team confirmed this on Thursday.
The rookie also caused a collision in Baku. However, the stewards judged the crash with teammate Liam Lawson as a regular racing incident and therefore refrained from further sanctions.
