Unrest has been prevalent in Austrian ice hockey, and not just since the boycott threat from the ÖEHV women's team.

According to information from "Kurier", work is currently underway behind the scenes to put the ÖEHV leadership on entirely new footing.

At the forefront of this reform is former Chancellor Christian Kern, who could leverage his contacts in Austrian ice hockey and become the new ÖEHV president.

New Structures, New Expertise?

Kern was identified by the group seeking to reform the ÖEHV as a candidate for the presidency. The goal is a fresh start for the ÖEHV, with new structures, greater expertise, and not just personnel changes at the top.

Advisory boards are planned – with individuals from business, politics, and media. Former section head in the Ministry of Sports, Philipp Trattner, ex-ORF presenter Michael Berger, and corporate executives are to be brought on board.

Meeting with ICE Clubs on Monday

Already on Monday, the ÖEHV leadership is to be discussed at the meeting of the ICE League clubs. If there is an agreement, a continuation of talks is planned for next week. If these discussions move in the right direction, the new executive board must still be legally elected into office.

It also remains completely open what will happen to ÖEHV President Klaus Hartmann and his team, whether they might even step down voluntarily, or if a vote of no confidence will be necessary.
