After 0:6 Debacle: EC Salzburg Sacks Entire Coaching Staff
The "Red Bulls" pull the plug after a weak start to the season. The new head coach has already been confirmed.
EC Red Bull Salzburg has relieved its coaching staff, including Head Coach Alan Letang and assistants Jason Morgan and Adam Maglio, of their duties. The sports management made this decision after the recent 0:6 thrashing against Black Wings Linz.
Letang only took over the team from Manny Viveiros in the summer. After eleven games in the win2day ICE Hockey League, the "Red Bulls" are currently only in twelfth place with 13 points, with only Fehervar and Pioneers Vorarlberg performing worse.
Furthermore, they were eliminated from the Champions Hockey League without a whimper, accumulating only two points.
Sporting director Helmut Schlögl states: "The performances shown so far this season do not meet our expectations. Therefore, we have decided to make a change."
Juniors Coach Steps Up
The new head coach has already been confirmed.
Teemu Levijoki, the long-serving head coach of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, will take over the position, supported by his Finnish colleague Ilkka Pakarinen, who has also worked with the Red Bull Hockey Juniors as an assistant coach for more than four years.
Their first test will be on Wednesday in the home game against Olimpija Ljubljana.
