Things are going well for Jakob Lippitsch, to put it simply.

The 22-year-old recently received a new contract until 2029 from Graz99ers, scored his fourth goal of the season in the 3-2 away victory against the Vienna Capitals on Sunday afternoon - and could soon make his debut for the ÖEHV national team.

According to LAOLA1 information, the forward from Klagenfurt is at least on head coach Roger Bader's call-up list for the Deutschland-Cup in November; a squad spot would even be possible if several players are unavailable.

"I did hear about that, yes," Lippitsch says when asked. He is very pleased that his performances so far in the young season could be rewarded in this way.

A Lot of Trust

In his second year with the reigning champions, the 1.93-meter tall attacker is flourishing, taking advantage of the often difficult personnel situation at the Styrians, and is among the winners of the season so far.

Seine größte Stärke ist, wie klug er ist. Er kann den Puck zudem sehr gut beschützen, gewinnt viele Zweikämpfe. (...) Er macht viele gute Dinge für uns.

Head Coach Dan Lacroix

After 13 league games, Lippitsch has four goals and three points in the Champions Hockey League. Previously, he had scored two goals in 35 appearances. "I can't complain. I'm getting a lot of trust, I invested a lot in the summer."

Although the Klagenfurt native had to join the military in July, he was able to spend a lot of time on the ice during preparation and work on his weaknesses. These include his speed, he explains himself.

Lacroix: "He Does a Lot of Good Things for Us"

However, Lippitsch compensates for his deficits on skates with his mind.

Coach Dan Lacroix says: "His greatest strength is how smart he is. He can also protect the puck very well, wins a lot of battles. He also knows that he has to go to the net to score, he goes there in every situation. He does a lot of good things for us."

The 22-year-old plays with more consistency and confidence, which is rewarded with ice time. On average, he is on the ice for 15:51 minutes per game. Lippitsch: "I play freely. I know when I can do something and when not. I'm doing that relatively well right now."

His confidence is high, but the Carinthian remains modest. "When you play on the second line, it's always relatively high."

Special Duel Awaits on Friday

After the next away game at FTC-Telekom in Budapest (Wednesday, 6:30 PM in the LIVE ticker), a very special duel awaits him on Friday when the 99ers host KAC at home.

With the Rotjacken, Lippitsch went through all the youth ranks and even made his debut in the senior team in February 2023. "I have many friends in Klagenfurt, I'm there a few times a month. I'm really looking forward to it," says the Klagenfurt native.

He expects a "very tough" game. Hopes are high that they will perform better than in the first season duel (2-6). "We were heavily depleted then, hopefully we won't be this time. We have a good chance that things will go better."

Perhaps Jakob Lippitsch can contribute his part with more goals.
