Another Defeat! HCI Crisis Continues Against Budapest
The Tyroleans suffer their sixth consecutive defeat. A goal from Kilian Rappold is not enough for the "Sharks".
HC Innsbruck suffered a 4-1 defeat against FTC Budapest on Saturday evening in the 17th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
Initially, the Tyroleans exerted more pressure on the Hungarians with aggressive forechecking. Nevertheless, Budapest was able to celebrate before the first intermission. Márk Schlekmann put the puck over the line from close range after a Rönni pass (13.).
Subsequently, FTC played more dangerously and extended their lead. Aku Kestila scored a magnificent shot high into the net for a 2-0 lead (26.). Just six minutes later, Paavo Tyni increased it to 3-0 with a spin shot into the left side.
HCI Gets on the Scoreboard Before the Break Through Rappold
After that, HCI goalie Sam Harvey was replaced, and Jakob Brandner got his chance to prove himself. Shortly before the second intermission, Kilian Rappold then reduced the deficit to 1-3 with a rebound (36.).
However, it was not enough for a comeback. On the other side, Ferenc Laskawy sealed the 4-1 final score in favor of the Hungarians on the power play (58th minute/PP1).
Thus, the "Sharks" lose their sixth consecutive game. Meanwhile, FTC secured three important points in the direct and early fight for the Pre-Playoffs.
