In the 13th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, Black Wings Linz halt the Vienna Capitals' winning streak with a 4:1 victory.

From the start, a fast-paced game develops in Linz. Already in the second minute, the Capitals have to play short-handed for the first time, but Linz cannot capitalize on their powerplay.

Shortly after, the Viennese also get a good opportunity, but their shot is denied by the hosts' netminder.

Strong First Period for the Black Wings

In the 10th minute, the Black Wings finally take the lead. Brady Shaw scores to make it 1:0 after assists from St-Amant and Knott.

The hosts remain in control thereafter and increase their lead to 2:0 in the 15th minute. Maier's goal gives them a two-goal advantage.

The game remains intense and is marked by several penalties.

Viennese Fight Back into the Game

In the second period, the Capitals show significant improvement. Vienna plays more offensively and increasingly pressures Linz. In the 26th minute, the team is rewarded for their strong phase: Bourque reduces the deficit to 1:2.

Shortly after, Vey even gets a great chance to equalize. He skates on a breakaway towards the Linz goal but shoots just wide.

The Viennese dominate much of the second period, giving Linz little room. The hosts, however, still go into the second break with a narrow lead.

Late Decisive Goal

In the final period, the Capitals initially continue to increase the tempo and search for the equalizer. But Linz strike back clinically. In the 46th minute, Knott breaks away solo and makes it 3:1.

For the Viennese, the goal is a setback, while the Black Wings now regain significantly more control over the game.

In the 52nd minute, the decisive goal finally comes: Shaw capitalizes on a breakaway and scores his second goal of the evening. With the score at 4:1, Linz now largely has the game under control.

The Capitals, however, do not give up and try everything again in the final phase. In the 58th minute, the puck even lands in the Linz goal, but Felix Koschek's goal is disallowed due to an offside position.

Shortly after, Vienna pulls goaltender Adam Reideborn from the ice and tries to get back into the game with an extra skater. However, Linz prevent any further danger and secure the victory.
