The Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 continues on Sunday evening with a high-profile duel.

Brazil must contend with Erling Haaland's Norway.

An overview of the schedule on July 5:

Schedule, July 5 (CEST):

10:00 PM: Brazil - Norway (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • The record world champions have not been entirely convincing at this World Cup so far, struggling to a late 2-1 victory over Japan in the Round of 32. In the group stage, they secured two wins against Scotland and Haiti, as well as a draw against Morocco.

  • Norway survived the "group of death" with France, Senegal, and Iraq, finishing second. In their first World Cup knockout match in 28 years, they eliminated Ivory Coast with a 2-1 win.

  • The match-winner was (naturally) superstar Erling Haaland, who has already scored five goals in his first World Cup appearance. Only Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi (both 6 goals) have scored more often.

  • The "Seleção" has so far been able to rely particularly on Vinicius Junior. The star attacker from Real Madrid has four goals and one assist, meaning he has been involved in more than half of Brazil's goals (9).

Schedule, July 6 (CEST):

02:00 AM: Mexico - England (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • Hosts Mexico have not conceded a goal so far and advanced to the Round of 16 with a win against Ecuador.

  • England defeated DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32 and are considered among the favorites despite the difficult task at Estadio Azteca.

  • The big challenge for the "Three Lions" is Mexico City's altitude (2,240 meters), which has already caused problems for many visiting teams.

  • The winner will face the winner of the Brazil versus Norway match in the quarter-finals.

09:00 PM: Portugal - Spain (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • The Iberian derby is considered one of the top matches of the Round of 16 and is a repeat of last year's Nations League final.

  • Spain enters the Round of 16 with a 34-game unbeaten streak and a dominant 3-0 victory against Austria.

  • Portugal eliminated Croatia and hopes to reach the quarter-finals with Cristiano Ronaldo and a strong midfield featuring Bruno Fernandes and Vitinha.

  • The duel between Spain's young star Lamine Yamal and Portugal's left-back Nuno Mendes could be particularly decisive. The winner will face USA or Belgium in the quarter-finals.
