On Friday evening, the next World Cup quarter-final takes place.

European champions Spain are fighting for their second World Cup semi-final appearance in history. So far, the "Furia Roja" have delivered especially clean defensive performances.

Next up, Belgium awaits as a European opponent for the third time in a row. The "Red Devils" impressively knocked out co-hosts USA in the round of 16.

An overview of the schedule for July 10:

Schedule, July 10 (CEST):

9:00 PM: Spain - Belgium (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • Spain has reached the quarter-finals again for the first time since their World Cup title in 2010, with Mikel Merino scoring the 1-0 winner for the "Furia Roja" against Portugal in injury time. Incidentally, it was the tenth last-minute winning goal at this World Cup – a new record.

  • Impressive: The reigning European champions have not conceded a single goal in this tournament yet. In fact, Spain is the first team to remain without conceding a goal in six consecutive World Cup matches.

  • Belgium effortlessly overcame their round of 16 hurdle, defeating co-hosts USA 4-1 following the controversy surrounding Folarin Balogun's red card, which was suspended on appeal. Rudi Garcia's team is now unbeaten in 18 matches.

  • It will be the first competitive match between Spain and Belgium in almost 17 years – in the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup, the Iberians clearly emerged victorious with a 5-0 scoreline. David Silva and David Villa each scored a brace back then.

Schedule, July 11 (CEST):

11:00 PM: Norway - England (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • Norway is in the quarter-finals of a FIFA World Cup for the first time ever. Erling Haaland secured the greatest success in the federation's history with his brace in the 2-1 win against record world champions Brazil.

  • England fought their way to a 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico in the round of 16 despite a red card against Jarell Quansah. Jude Bellingham scored twice and led the "Three Lions" to their third consecutive World Cup quarter-final.

  • This will be the 13th international match between Norway and England. The English have won seven of the previous twelve encounters, Norway has won three times, and there have been two draws.

  • Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, two of the most prolific strikers of their generation, will face each other. Haaland has already scored seven goals at this World Cup, practically leading Norway to the quarter-finals single-handedly, while Kane has also scored six times so far.
