On Sunday evening, the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 continues with a high-profile match.

Brazil must prevail against Erling Haaland's Norway.

An overview of the schedule for July 5:

Schedule, July 5 (CEST):

10:00 PM: Brazil - Norway (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • The record world champion has not been entirely convincing so far in this World Cup, struggling to a late 2-1 victory over Japan in the Round of 32. In the group stage, they had two wins against Scotland and Haiti, and a draw against Morocco.

  • Norway survived the "Group of Death" with France, Senegal, and Iraq as runners-up, eliminating Ivory Coast 2-1 in their first World Cup knockout match in 28 years.

  • The match-winner was (of course) superstar Erling Haaland, who already has five goals in his first World Cup appearance. Only Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi (both 6 goals) have scored more often.

  • The "Selecao" has particularly relied on Vinicius Junior so far. The Real Madrid star forward has four goals and one assist, meaning he was involved in more than half of Brazil's goals (9).

Schedule, July 6 (CEST):

2:00 AM: Mexico - England (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • Hosts Mexico have not conceded a goal so far and advanced to the Round of 16 with a win against Ecuador.

  • England defeated DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32 and is considered among the favorites despite the difficult task at Estadio Azteca.

  • The big challenge for the "Three Lions" is the altitude of Mexico City (2,240 meters), which has already caused problems for many visiting teams.

  • The winner will face the victor of the Brazil vs. Norway match in the quarterfinals.

9:00 PM: Portugal - Spain (LIVE ticker >>>)

  • The Iberian derby is considered one of the top matches of the Round of 16 and is a repeat of last year's Nations League final.

  • Spain enters the Round of 16 with a 34-match unbeaten streak and a dominant 3-0 victory over Austria.

  • Portugal eliminated Croatia and hopes to reach the quarterfinals with Cristiano Ronaldo and a strong midfield featuring Bruno Fernandes and Vitinha.

  • The duel between Spain's young star Lamine Yamal and Portugal's left-back Nuno Mendes, in particular, could be decisive. The winner will face USA or Belgium in the quarterfinals.
