No Health Insurance at World Cup? New Controversy Surrounds Senegal
Both players and staff were reportedly not covered by health insurance at the World Cup. Goalkeeper Mendy had to cover the MRI costs himself.
Senegal's World Cup elimination continues to make headlines.
Following the 3-2 defeat against Belgium in the round of sixteen, despite holding a 2-0 lead, this time not only the coach but the entire federation is facing criticism.
The reason for this is that, according to "Sports News Africa", neither players nor support staff were reportedly covered by health insurance during the tournament.
For goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, this turned into a costly affair. He reportedly had to cover the costs for an MRI examination himself.
An official statement from the federation is still pending.
