England loses its third consecutive World Cup semi-final.

The "Three Lions" squandered a long-held lead in the closing stages and conceded two goals within just seven minutes.

After scoring their opening goal, England retreated further and further. Between the 1-0 lead and Lautaro Martínez's equalizer, Thomas Tuchel's team managed only twelve percent possession in 37 minutes (read more here >>>). At times, the English even defended with six defenders, including four center-backs.

Much Criticism for Tuchel

The defensive stronghold ultimately did not hold, and now head coach Thomas Tuchel, in particular, is coming under fire from the English media.

The Telegraph judges: "The accusations will haunt him for years." The Sun becomes even clearer: "That's on him."

And The Mirror also doesn't spare criticism: "This is heartbreaking. Tuchel's substitutions backfired."

Thomas Müller also expressed surprise at the performance: "I cannot believe and understand how England approached this game. Especially after taking the lead."
