Marcos Llorente is ending his career with the Spanish national team after winning the World Cup title.

The 31-year-old Atletico Madrid right-back announced his decision on Instagram:

"I have decided to end my time with the Spanish national team, even though I am aware that I am still young. It is a personal decision that I have thought about for a very long time and thoroughly, and one that primarily comes from the heart."

Under Contract with Atletico Madrid Since 2019

Llorente made his debut for the Spanish squad in November 2020 under Luis Enrique. In total, he made 27 international appearances.

At the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, Llorente featured three times, two of which were in the starting eleven.

"I will fondly remember everything I have experienced, especially these last 52 days. It was an honour for me to represent my country."
