32-Minute Hattrick: Dembele Nearly Breaks Austrian Record
The French global superstar shone brightly against Norway. With his hat-trick, the attacker narrowly missed a long-standing record.
Ousmane Dembele was named player of the match in the game between France and Norway (to the highlights >>>).
Within 32 minutes, the attacking star from Paris Saint-Germain scored a hat-trick, virtually deciding the match single-handedly.
Erich Probst Was Faster
With his three goals, he almost broke the World Cup record for the fastest hat-trick in tournament history. In the end, he was eight minutes short of Austrian record holder Erich Probst.
At the 1954 World Cup, Probst scored a hat-trick in the second group stage match during a 5-0 victory against Czechoslovakia, needing only 24 minutes to do so.
Austria then reached the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by West Germany. Finally, Probst and co. secured third place with a victory over Uruguay.
