Mini-Derby: Rapid Delivers a Goalfest in Bundesliga Debut

In the club's first-ever Bundesliga match, the Rapid women spectacularly secure a point.

On the first matchday of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga, SK Rapid and First Vienna FC 1894 draw 3-3.

It takes the Rapid women less than ten minutes to score their first Bundesliga goal - and it's a dream goal at that.

After a mispass by a Vienna defender during build-up play, Zöger gets the ball and surprises goalkeeper Vivien Grabenhofer, who was positioned far off her line, with a shot under the crossbar from about 35 meters out (9.).

Vienna Responds

Following an uncleared free-kick, the hosts get the ball back into the penalty area.

Lena Mädl crosses from the corner of the six-yard box over the goalkeeper into the centre, where Karla Kurkutovic heads it in from close range (21.). The score remains 1-1 going into halftime.

After that, Vienna gradually takes control, allowing hardly any attacking moves from the Rapid women.

Ice-Cold Rapid Women

Until the 58th minute, when Elisabeth Brandl scores out of nowhere to give Rapid the lead again.

The 25-year-old's sharp cross doesn't reach its intended target, but the clearance attempt is deflected precisely into the path of the Rapid player, who nets it with her right foot through Grabenhofer's legs (58.).

However, Vienna continues to be dominant, and almost immediately in response, Kurkutovic heads the ball against the crossbar.

Shortly after, the Rapid women punish their opponents again. Jasmin König is found with a long ball in behind, whereupon the attacker ice-coldly chips Grabenhofer (67.).

Second Dream Goal and a Late Equalizer

Shortly after Rapid's supposed decisive goal, Vienna rewards themselves - and how!

Leonie Gebahrt simply lets fly from a good 35 meters out and smashes the ball quite centrally against the underside of the crossbar. From there, the ball flies into the net (68.).

Lilah Havel (82.) later misses the equalizer, shooting wide in front of goalkeeper Jasmin Zotter.

In the 89th minute, Helena Milanovic does better: The recently substituted striker heads in for the late equalizer and secures a point for the Döbling women late on.
