Women's Bundesliga: Salzburg celebrates narrow win against Rapid

Red Bull Salzburg celebrated a narrow 1-0 away victory against SK Rapid on the eighth matchday of the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga.

The Salzburg women had better chances before the break but only rewarded themselves after halftime.

Akrap scores the decisive goal

After a corner, Salzburg struck in the 57th minute. Valentina Akrap put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Rapid then came close to equalizing but was unlucky. Elisabeth Brandl hit only the post in the 65th minute.

In the final phase, an open exchange of blows developed, but no further goals were scored. Salzburg saw out the narrow victory.

With ten points, Salzburg is now in fifth place. Rapid remains seventh with six points.

St. Pölten remains flawless

Meanwhile, SKN St. Pölten remains the benchmark. The Lower Austrians beat FC Blau-Weiß Linz/Kleinmünchen 4-0 at home, celebrating their seventh win in their seventh game.

Magdalena Rukavina put St. Pölten ahead in the 32nd minute. After the break, Lisa Ebert (50th) and Amelie Woelki (57th) secured the preliminary decision with a double strike.

Alma Aagaard put the final touch in stoppage time (90.+3).

With the maximum 21 points, St. Pölten thus reclaims the top spot in the league. Blau-Weiß Linz/Kleinmünchen remains in the penultimate place with four points.
