Return to the 2. Liga
The goal under Jancker is crystal clear: a return to the ADMIRAL 2. Liga. The German has now signed a contract with the Carinthians until the end of the season, which is set to be extended by two more years upon promotion, as reported by "Krone".
"I'm really up for this challenge – the goals are clearly defined, and I'm on board with them. Now we have to play the remaining four matches in the first half of the season properly, and then we'll see which screws we still need to turn," newly appointed coach Jancker is quoted as saying.
Prominent New Signings in Winter?
The squad is to be significantly strengthened in winter, as President Helmut Kaltenegger announced: "Carsten won't be able to work miracles just yet. But in winter, we will sign five or six players that the 3. Liga has never seen before. And then we will destroy the league."
Among others, Stefan Hierländer and Srdjan Spiridonovic are on the list. Specifically, Kaltenegger wants to bring in a "centre-back, a defensive midfielder, and a top-class centre-forward."
After ten rounds, Austria Klagenfurt is currently in second place, three points behind league leaders ATUS Velden.
