Coach's Praise! Salzburg Youngster Stays with Senior Squad
The young Swede was called up from the U21s and will remain with the senior squad for the duration of the training camp.
Salzburg youngster John Mellberg (20) has made a strong impression on Sweden national coach Graham Potter. The defender was subsequently called up for the Englishman's team.
Had Gustaf Lagerbielke regained fitness for the last international matches, a demotion of Mellberg to the U21s would have been conceivable.
Good Personality
The 20-year-old, however, knows how to impress. "I think it's good that he is with us, and I believe he can gain valuable experience. It also means that Gustaf (Lagerbielke, ed. note) can proceed a bit more cautiously with his rehabilitation," announced Potter.
Will he soon be the new big name? Potter remains cautious: "The fact is that you have to play a few games before you make big claims. But from what I've seen, his personality and attitude are right. I also believe that he fits well into the group. He is definitely someone to keep an eye on."
